Spank Rock is killin’ the game right now with his original style -a symbolic foam middle finger to the pseudo-intellectual haters. The media has been quick to draw comparisons to another Philly native (Schooly D), and to exhault him as the sound of the future after the revolution. I’ll tone down the nut-swinging a bit and just agree that dude and his people (which includes Diplo, Low Budget, Amanda Blank, MIA) are just doing them (what a concept!) and a growing number of (open minded) people are feeling it.
In the spirit of trying out something new, get yourself ready for Bangers and Cash -a team-up with Benny Blanco (a Disco D protege, so you know it’s drippin’ sex) that waxes explicit with 2 Live Crew sampled tracks and Spank’s rapido delivery -the soundtrack for sweaty club night hendoism and empty wallets in the champagne room.
There’s going to be a five-week consecutive Myspace leak of new tracks off of Bangers & Cash -available for download for two days at a time.
