If you haven’t figured it out by now, Satchel of Gravel is the re-incarnated Don’t Believe the Hypebeast.
Think of them like an older brother that says, “What the fu-k are you wearing, a pink bandana and neon green Dunks? WTF?”. The one that’ll kick your ass every now and again. The one that bones the pretty girl that you’ve had a crush on since that day in the fourth grade on the soccer field. You know, when he gets kicked out of college for suppling coke to the Badminton Team (Go Hedgehogs!) and moves back home? At least he was kind enough to share the videotape with you.
E.X.T.R.A L.A.R.G.E Saturdays is the super fresh electro-oriented show that comes on before Mike-ill’s Keepin’ it Right programme on 88.9 KUCI. If you’re out of the signals reach, I definitely encourage you to stream them while you clean up your flat -household names such as No Doubt and Sublime got their first spins on this station.
You just might discover something new to enjoy, and be able to cooly scoff at your friends 3 months later when they do. Don’t front, we all know you do that. Anyway, Mike’s throwing down something special & the venue is extra sexy.
Enjoy girls kissing girls because of the drink specials. (c’mon you knew that was coming, right?)
Saturday Dec 8th EXTRALARGE Presents
Boys and Girls
211 W. 2nd St.
Santa Ana, 92701
I heard this on a mixshow the other day and didn’t pay much attention to it. It has that simple club/radio friendly feel, and after a couple spins of Bangers&Cash girls kissing girls is pretty tame material. Anyway, the video isn’t exactly Oscar worthy but it does capture the young male fascination with girls kissing girls & the glorious distribution thereof via live web chat well. I highly encourage you experimental ladies to follow this link and hear about the contest that dude has going on.
The acceptance of (smoking hot) girl/girl action by straight males has done wonders for gay/straight relations and acceptance in general. You can debate the accepted or classical definitions of beauty in relation to the perception of lesbian/bi-sexual women until none care to listen, but the Girls Gone Wild series has probably made a greater impact in raising gay/straight issues in conversation than Boy’s Don’t Cry among young college-age males.
So DJ’s -keep this in the club for the winter…
Single Ladies -grab your girlfriends and find a little dark corner…
Fellas -keep a fresh memory card on your cam
and most importantly, be good to your winter wifey…I’m serious, don’t go fu-king up a good thing by suggesting that she get with one of her girls when you damn well know she’ll put her slipper up your ass for saying something stupid like that. In fact, pick up some soup for her on the way home.
BTW I’m still trying to figure out how the f-ck Ski Beatz ended up on this project… That’s a stupid question…
*Oh and if you really needed a NSFW for the video, you’re out of your league anyway…
There’s a lot of weak Facebook apps cluttering profiles like Myspace surveys. Yeah, I really do have better things to do than vampire you or teenwolf your ass. Of the select few apps that I have chosen (including Sneakers & Flixster), it’s the Track of The Day application from trackfeeder.com that gives me the most joy.
Tribe of Issachar -also known as Congo Natty, Rebel MC, Conquering Lion and by other names made Jungle music before it went suburban middle class and became drum&bass. Historically, he is credited with the first documented usage of the word Jungle to describe the music (300 Criminal Slang Points go to the first person that knows who coined the term Reggae) on a track.
How are people against reading books, buying land instead of spinnin’ rims and deodorant (it’s not expensive!) anyway? Yeah, let’s stop kids from reciting, “read a muthaf-ckin book” & have them go back to doing the Souljah Boy…
These so-called experts in this world should be gettin’ on the remix and drop science like:
“change yo draws stupid, change them stanky draws stupid”
Visit myspace.com/killacamspace anyway (it’s actually pretty fresh for a myspace page) or Killa might roll up on your boy in his Lambo talking ’bout me f-ck’n up his email hustle.
**(Update 11/27) Untitled Tracks #14 & 15 alone make this a worthwhile purchase…I’m not giving you any clues about who zee secret collaborator is -buy it if you haven’t already!**
Only 5 stores in California have this latest release from Murs 3:16 Presents. Turntable Lab isn’t one of them. Best Buy doesn’t have it, Virgin Records maybe? Nope…The 3 Amoeba Music locations, a storeAccess Hip Hop in San Diego (Thanks for the info in the comments) and Store 13 in West Covina do however.
Murs dropped them off sometime over the weekend…it’s a 100% independent release available for a short time for $13 dollars. Call 626.430.6650 for details.
This is the disc that features Asek, Isaiah & ATLiens’ on the come up -Supreeme-
“Supreeme is a rap super group composed of rappers King Self, Negashi Armada, and rapper producer Tom Cruz. Some would say, that they are the first fully realized rap band except that they don’t play instruments, they play hoes and or hoe ass niggas.”
DJ Splice’s hand-picked labour of love -featuring cuts from Pace One, O.C., Crooklyn Dodgers, Jeru the Damaja- is perfect for that reminiscing head-snap in the whip session. The kind that get peppered with the Ohhhh Sh-T! and the, “I used have that on tape back in the day!!!”
Pics from the party last friday night will be up soon. Thanks to everyone who came! When they go up, you’ll learn that…
-Mike-ill doesn’t do germs
-Heartfood Presents has a Trainspotter
-Vince don’t give a f-ck how much his Tiffany Dunks fetch for on eBay.
-Hooray for the Designated Driver! isn’t just a clever catchphrase…
-WC girls keep it thoro…
Until then, download this mixtape at One Two Magazine & get your roll on in the meantime.
SIA (See-uhh) is back with her new studio album Some People Have Real Problems in stores January 2008, and digitally December 2007. A placement of her song, Breathe Me on the HBO series Six Feet Under and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show helped her Colour The Small One (UK 2004, US 2006) record get picked up in a licensing deal by Astralwerks. This was after a string of on-again off-again, moving on relationships with various labels and distributors.
SIA let this Electric Bird out of it’s cage for you to enjoy, download it here.
