Flippin’ the Radiohead download model, Saul Williams gives an incentive for those that elect to purchase The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust album for $5 USD. Basically, those who pay get to choose between 192kbps, 320kbps MP3 or FLAC lossless formats. If you’re an audiophile (music snob) the choice is obvious.
I have a theory that in 10-15 years, most music/culture writers will lament the passing of the, “golden age” of the current Downtown resurgance -before it was handed over to Disney. Also, the current fashion and music scenes will continue to grow and develop into a community-oriented, post-hollywood style and bring substance back to LA. Then everyone will OD on pills, cocaine and N20 and the cultural center will move to Watts.
LA 2007-20 = NY1980’s (quick strikin’ hypebeasts aren’t really that original -go ask Fab 5 Freddy, Debbie Harry & AdRock)
Post-Hollywood will describe the work of the Criminal Slang Media Alliance in 2008. The BLVD is over.
After you burn out on family togetherness, ditch your Christmas sweater and head out to the Vault 350 in the LBC for an apparently all-ages Christmas Show headlined by Mr. 3:16 Presents himself Murs. Yep, he’ll be spreading holiday cheer by making underground raw sh-t for everyone in attendance, along with compas 2Mex, Pigeon John, Self-Scientific, & DJ Orator (KPFK).
Tickets are $20 & available at Store 13 -you can also pick up the limited pressing of Murs & The Misadventures… for $13 while you’re there.
*Congratulations to Paul Krenitsky & his winning entry

Your poster is in the mail -the inclusion of the song title was a nice touch…

Daft Punk Alive 2007 is released in stores today, December 4th. Yeah I know, thanks for the advance notice. Irregardless, this is a great live record to keep in your arsenal. Hopefully it inspires someone to go out and catch them on tour or for DJ’s to pull out their Homework and make a new Discovery. In fact, I haven’t heard One More Time played at the proper time in about 5 years.
